Hyannis, one of the Town of Barnstable’s seven villages, placed in the top five in TripAdvisor’s annual TravelCast 2010 which identifies five up and coming destinations for 2010.
Destinations were selected based on site data, including increases in search activity and postings for the past year on TripAdvisor.com. TripAdvisor editors then analyzed this data, in order to ensure that all of these destinations were places that they themselves would love to visit! So to clarify, the list stems from data and expert insight, rather than a traveler survey.
Hyannis is home to ferry, air and bus transportations hubs; contains the Cape’s largest shopping mall, and the Cape’s longest Main Street, filled with interesting and diverse retail establishments and restaurants, entertainment; Cape Cod Hospital; and a half dozen spectacular beaches. One visit on a summer’s day clearly exhibits the appeal and popularity of this historic and visitor-friendly village.
“Hyannis has evolved as a dynamic, year-round high-value destination for Cape visitors,” said Deborah Converse, CEO of Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce. “The village’s charming and energetic Main Street, working waterfront, diverse retail and dining corridor, arts and cultural offerings, role as the Cape’s transportation hub and name recognition due, in part, to the Kennedy family legacy, combine to make Hyannis a stimulating and worthwhile stop in any Cape visit,” Converse continued.
Wendy Northcross, CEO of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, the regional tourism council for all of Cape Cod, said “We are honoured that Hyannis has received this prestigious designation from TripAdvisor. Its evolution and progress during the past decade have been meteoric, marked by significant investments in housing, retail space and infrastructure. Locals and international visitors flock to Hyannis shop and dine, for entertainment, transportation and simply to bask in the ambience and local color. The Chamber applauds the efforts of residents, local businesses and the Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce for making Hyannis such a magnetic place to work, shop, dine and visit.”
