SANDWICH MA VACATION GUIDE
Welcome to the village where Cape Cod begins
Enjoy Sandwich's historic charm, with unique lodging choices, restaurants for the romantic -or the
family - and many choices for recreation, and exploration.
Centrally located amid beautiful walking and biking trails, bird sanctuaries,
salt water estuaries, fresh water ponds, and seashore. Sandwich offers easy access
to day-trippers, weekenders, and international travelers alike. An hour
from Boston, Providence, and Provincetown, Sandwich is the ideal lodging destination.
Sandwich is rich with historical and working museums. New galleries representing up-and-coming artists with worldwide recognition
are located in the village and along Old King's Highway. Historical walking Tours are available. Thornton Burgess may even be seen leading a tour
through town on a sunny day. Enjoy an afternoon of jam making at Greenbriar in
their working jam kitchen.
Ride your bike along the Cape Cod Canal, the widest sea-level canal in
the world, and enjoy the view. Go on a whale watch
or fish for stripers in Cape Cod Bay. Shop in our village for
something special for yourself or a friend.
This is the town that Glass built - don't miss live glass blowing demonstrations. The Sandwich Glass Museum houses original pieces
created during the 1800's and provides demonstrations of glass blowing technique.
The museum's theater shows a great documentary of the history of Sandwich.
Throughout the village there are glass blowers, artists, and potters with open studios
to visit.
The oldest house on the Cape, the Hoxie House and the lush gardens and antique
car museum at Heritage Museum & Gardens, are waiting
to be enjoyed. Delight in the town's nightlife with a
lantern tour of an old graveyard, listen to local talent at the Grange Hall
Coffeehouse, or in one of the local taverns. Play a round of golf or enjoy a
clambake.
Special thanks to the Sandwich Chamber for this information.
